The competition is a two phase horse trial that taken place on an
all weather surface. It consists of one Show Jumping round and one
timed Cross Country round. The winner will be the horse with the
lowest penalty score at the end of the competition.

A style mark for horse and rider awarded over the show jumping
round (the mark is awarded out of 60 and is converted to penalties)
and judged under BE Show Jumping rules,
added to the jumping penalties incurred during the Show Jumping and
Cross Country phases and the Cross Country time penalties (the Show
Jumping phase will not be timed)
